Vision Statement

The Vision of the Naturopathic Physicians Board of Aesthetic Medicine is to be the recognized credentialing body of Aesthetic Medicine.

Medical Licensure is designed as the minimum standard necessary to practice medicine. It is a public function, administered by the states, the standards are established through a public process and all actions taken – both in granting a license and in restricting or withdrawing a license – are matters of public record. Licensure is not specialty specific and permits an individual to provide to the public any medical or surgical service s/he desires.

Credentialing by A Specialty Board , i.e. NPBAM attests to 1) completion of a prescribed set of education and training requirements in the specialty of aesthetics beyond the minimum requirements for licensure, 2) proof of fund of knowledge in this specialty, and 3) passage of specified steps in determination of competency in the specialty. Most specialties now also require periodic recertification, which generally requires successful completion of specified continuing education and membership in good standing. Many health care organizations and health plans now require credentialing of the added qualification(s) in order to provide services in the relevant specialty area. Board-credentialed professionals govern specialty Boards (NPBAM) in that specialty.

The NPBAM Credentialing Programs are Designed to establish the body of knowledge necessary for such credentialing, test through written examination, the common body of knowledge necessary to deliver aesthetic procedures, evaluation, examination and aesthetic services to clients/patients.
